And this actually helps the cause. There was a recent court decison that held that since unloaded open carry was legal,(at the time of the decison), there was an option besides concealed carry.With the UOC "option" gone, the lawyers are saying the decision will be reversed.
The biggest impediment is the discretion allowed county sheriffs. LTC's are the perks to the sheriff's supporters, especially in the northern counties. When "shall issue" was in the legislature 20 years ago, the biggest opposition came from those same northern county sheriffs who didn't want to lose their gift to supporters.

carry. BUT this has nothing to do with that. THIS time around it is a big LIB Dem upset at open carry folks and wanting to further ban guns in California. Again while more & more states are opening up to it's citizens right to carry, California goes backwards. Texas started a good ccw permit program almost 20 years ago. Almost all other states have as well. 3 states, currently (and soon more) recognize constitutional rights to carry concealed open or other wise. California continues to get more repressive of our individual civil rights while most all other states are recognizing those rights.

The right to carry openly has been restricted in California since the 1960's. It response to the open, loaded carrying of firearms by the Black Panthers, the Republican controlled legislature passed a law making the carrying of loaded firearms in a public place a crime. It was signed into law by the governor post haste. You know, that commie rat-bastard Ronald Reagan.
IIRC the open carry of firearms is also illegal in that bastion of liberal socialism, Texas.

United Socialist Republic of Kalifornia. I don't understand why Petersens Publishing or any other gun related publishing company is run out of there. I sometimes think we should boycott Kalifornia based companies and tell them we won't buy their products until they leave there.
