Google .22 reamer. $40 to rent, $79 to buy, DIY. It's worth it to buy IMO, can be done easily by hand. If you DIY, 50/50 STP or generic and ATF is the best tapping, drilling, metal cutting fluid there is a Macgyverism I learned while working 25 years in a metallurgical test lab.

That’s great; thanks for the correction and further info! I have an old Remington Rolling Block that has a later ‘green’ parkerized barrel installed. Not sure what it’s off of, 514T maybe? It’s pretty danged accurate and I need to shoot it more.

He bought a new Single Six in 1963. Turned out to have a bad barrel from the factory. Ruger said they would replace it free of charge. He decided to rebarrel it himself. He had a Model 52 Winchester target barrel so he whacked off a piece and made a 6 1/2" barrel .. fitted it to the frame ... Taylor throated it .. rechambered one chamber in the cylinder to .22 Magnum ... lightened the hammer ... straightened the trigger .. made a super accurate sixgun out of it.

.22 Magnum chamber. Since you carry with the hammer down on an empty chamber this made perfect sense.

I can strongly recommend Anderson Gun Repair in SPFD. It's changed hands since Senor Anderson ran it, and I worked there. However the former owner speaks highly of the current proprietor.

BE ADVISED some gunsmiths consider the practice unsafe, and won't touch it. I disagree, but there you have it. So I'd call first.

I am sure Gary Reeder could do it. Most any gunsmith could. (reply)

I have done it myself the down and dirty way. Ain't fun but it worked. I started with a slightly undersize drill bit .. went slow ... then used a fired .22 Magnum cartridge fixed to a screw with the head cut off so I could put it in an electric drill. Valve grinding compound on the .22 Magnum and lapped out the chamber to the correct size. Took a few days of careful work but made a nice rifle when I was done. My daughter used it to kill her first Javelina when she was 11. I used a Mossberg barrel.

Rechambering a .22lr rifle barrel to .22 WMR

Ok... so here's what I got... I have an old Rossi .22lr/.410 youth combo single shot rifle/shotgun combo... I have the .410 barrel and 2 each .22lr barrels... I'd like to rechamber one of the .22lr barrels to .22WMR that way I'll have a .410/.22lr/.22WMR shotgun/rifle combo for outback packing...

I've been looking for a gunsmith in my area that can rechamber one of the .22lr barrels but because I live out in the boonies, there ain't one... so my question to you is... who would you recomend I send my .22lr barrel to to have it rechambered or... If possible one of ya'll might have a rechambering tool and be able to rechamber it for me...

I appreciate ya'lls help in this...
