I bought one when they first came out last year and I had a turn it over to my gunsmith to make it work. Functioning now.

Not supposed to have a compass. (reply)

I have my dad's Red Ryder from 1947-1949 ish? No compass in the stock. They never had them till they made a few for that movie,

It was the Buck Jones model that had the "compass in the stock and a sling that tells time" (sun dial on the stock)

OK I am a jerk I bought the hype! I started with a daisy bb gun and The GROWN UP Red Ryder ones are climbing in price I see them for $125.00 +.So I decided to pull the trigger and get one before they were gone. OVERPAID ? No doubt Price of buying a bb gun in NJ. I get it. The finish work is poor Made in china???? but most of all NO COMPASS IN THE STOCK???? How cheap can they be not to put a .10 Cent compass in the stock?
