ASR blast shield (reply)

Frank I am thinking you want the loud sound gone with out breaking the bank. I would put a can on it but the cheap fix would be to use a dermal cut off wheel and cut out the front blast divert er from the top you will have a claw flash hider that doubles as a glass breaker and the length won't change and it will be quieter.

It's actually this one

https://silencerco.com/asr-single-port-muzzle-brake.html

Yes the barrel was cut shorter than 16" and the muzzle brake permanently attached.
I figured it was cheaper to get blast shield than going thru a gunsmith.
Thanks guys!

ASR blast shield (reply)

When you say ASR, is it the Silencerco suppressor QD brake, something similar to this?

https://silencerco.com/asr-muzzle-brake.html

I didn’t have any luck finding what threads they are, but I have a couple contacts in the businessman I could ask around.

Has it been cut to under 16” and ten brake permanently attached to bring it back up over 16”? If so, the two options I can think of are to have it removed, hopefully it was pinned and welded, and replaced with something more like a flash hider or another QD mount with a blast shield that is still available, or the second idea is to have a machinist/gunsmith make a custom blast diverter for you.

There’s a local guy who does really good work, I’m sure he could fix you up. I can give you contact info for him. Or, if you are willing to ship, you might talk to John Killebrew here on the board. I’m betting he could take care of you one way or another.

get a micrometer, caliper or good ruler and count (reply)

Also get a magnifier so you can see well. With a caliper you can just set it to measure the distance from one thread to another one farther away, the farther the better. Then use your magnifer to count the number of threads within this distance. Now divide the first number into the second number and the result will be threads per inch.

ASR blast shield

Gentlemen,
I am seeking your help.
I recently acquired a Marlin 30-30 that has had the barrel cut down and
It has an ASR muzzle blast device permanently attached...man is it loud.
ASR had a Blast shield that screws on over the other device....it is no longer available...there are other options out there. But I am trying to determine the TPI...ASR informs me that it is proprietary info.
