New shoes for the 57........ (reply)

Same thought here.....only thing that concerns me is they have a slight flat spot on the back edge and runs down the back strap, feels odd in the hand but might help with recoil recovery.

New shoes for the 57........

When I was younger I preferred the S&W Target grips over anything else, as I have aged they don't seem to work as well, so to that end I have been looking for replacement grips. Most I didn't like, too small, too bulky, shaped wrong and I really didn't want to go the custom route, though a pair of Skeeter Roper style from Blu Magnum would be great, just to many irons in the fire right now to fork over that kind of money.

So the other day while browsing for some I ran into a set of Ahrends Retro Target grips, seemed close to the Skeeter Roper style, price was right so I decided to try them out.........

Made of Moradillo wood, gotta be a close relative of Desert Ironwood from the looks of the grain pattern. While close in looks to the Roper style, there is a slight difference but much better than the factory stocks. Now if mother nature would be so kind as to bring some decent weather I will try them at the range, along with the snubbie Redhawk.
