At one time had had nearly 3 complete sets of his work, one for each of my kids but as often happens, the interests of the parents are far from the interests of the offspring. My oldest son has his set and I took the others to the used book store. I still have hardback versions of Last of The Breed and The Walking Drum and one or two others. They get reread about every two years.

Last of the Breed by Louis L'Amour

Just finished reading this novel, and can heartily recommend it. Not the most sophisticated writing, really just a simple tale and presented as such, but solid enough to hold your imagination. If you like adventure, this has it in spades, and in the most unlikely fashion. Or given the main character, perhaps it is in the most likely fashion.
