That was the 24-3 (reply)

The 24-2 was made, on paper, between 1961 and 1967, when the Model 24 was discontinued. Wouldn't surprise me if S&W didn't make any after the early 1960s due to low demand. The pre -3 Model 24s are all like hen's teeth. I think it is easier to find a Model 1950 Target than a model marked M24.

24-2? I've never seen one (reply)

I am guessing that was one of the 6.5" 24s that were brought out when Skeeter told us all to write Smith and Wesson to make another run of 24s. IIRC that was the early 80's. Smith made 500 blue 6.5s and 500 blue 4". They then made another run of 624s (Stainless) in the same barrel lengths. I had one of the blue 6.5" and truly it was the worse new Smith and Wesson I ever owned. The front sight tilted to the right about 10 degrees, had bad cylinder endshake. I sent it back without firing it and the service dept. made it right.

My thoughts... (reply)

Mike, the 6" 24 is probably worth $1000 or so. The 4" 28 is probably pushing $750 (I know!). That's a base line. If you've been friends for 40 years, then work down from there. You know how to do that so well...heck, you taught me. LOL

Good luck!!
