Was just looking at pictures of Hogue N frame grips, some are crazy big with a fat bottom but some are fairly trim with a small bottom, what you got???? If they are the thin bottom style, they might work ok and I will take you up on your offer.

The only problem with Hogues is the attachment style, would make the grip longer than I want, thanks anyway.

OK, not Ahrends. Maybe Hogues? (reply)

Thanks for the offer but do they have a hole in the bottom for a screw to use on a attachment like Hogues????? If so they will not work, the end results would be a loooonnng skinny grip. I want to round them down a bit and make the bottom small as possible. If they use a cross screw like factory, they might work, let me know.

Forgot about Shooting Stars, that would work as well. What you do is along the same way I want to go, just need a couple of guinea pigs to work.

Pachmayr? (reply)

I did not know it but noticed recently that Pachmayr makes wood grips that are fairly rounded and not too expensive.
Personally I like Hogue monogrips and the finger grooves work for me but you can buy them without finger grooves. They used to have an internet site where you could buy seconds for a low price.

Not sure. They don't really look like anything on either current website. Finger grooves, palm swells, semi-open back, a little bottom swell, dark wood. Cryptic markings on the inside. I can snap a picture if you wish or just box 'em up and send 'em south. They were freebies to me so they'll stay that way to you.

Looking for N Frame Sq Butt grips...... (reply)

Gunner, Herret's Shooting Star grips have some very nice stocks inside them. You just have to remove the oversized and ugly wood on the outside to find the gems beneath. I have done several sets to the old Bear Hug style and they turned out fine. You take all the checkering off, of course, but I prefer smooth grips on a hard-kicking gun or one that is to be carried close.

Sometimes I find some very nice grained walnut under that crappy factory finish. A pure tung oil finish makes 'em look purty.

Looking for N Frame Sq Butt grips......

I love my 57 and the looks of the factory target style grips, problem is I don't like the feel of them, have always felt funny in my hand. It has a decent set on it so I am not really wanting to go hacking on them as an experiment to find a better feeling grip, Hogues are nice, finger groves are not, rubber is out of the question, found a couple of factory style replacement grips but they want $90-$130 for them so that leaves me with modifying a not so great shape factory set to find a better solution.

I need a couple sets of the S&W style two piece target stocks to introduce to my belt grind for reshaping. I looked online, yeah I don't think so, $90 for a set that looks like it got run over by a truck or $300 for a nice grain pattern set, neither fits the bill.

What I am looking for is a set in ok shape, a little scuffed up, plain grain or color or a ding on the bottom edge, as long as the underside is solid I am not to worried about the outside as I will be sanding them down to more rounded profile.

So does anyone have a set or two lying around that you want to get rid of??? If you have a nice set and want to do some horse trading for a knife (just search my postings over the last few months, most are still available) we can talk and work something out.

Thanks,
Gunner
