Don't know if he has that particular blade up or not. Gunner does good work for good prices. I have a few of his and have been very pleased. Matter of fact, nearly every time he posts a new one, I get itchin' for another...and I'm not really a knife guy!

A free 'image manipulator'... (reply)

I have used this for a few years. There are a number of things one can do to an image but I am unsure if you can get exactly what you want. In any event, it is free...

Here => https://www.irfanview.com/

Another nice blade, BTW.

I did similar in photoshop elements (reply)

But I don't have a way to post the image here or email it back to OP.

An easier way to do it if the image editing program has that feature is to "boost the shadows". This brightens up the dark parts but doesn't change the bright parts. I have a very old version of photoshop elements but it has a slider to adjust shadows, only takes a few seconds.

Something that can help with those light woes (reply)

Picasa and many other image editing packages allow you to delineate areas of an image in which you wish to change lighting/contrast/etc. I've used it with great success on ivory-stocked revolvers. Same problem - show the blued gun, wash out the ivory. Show the grain of the ivory, the blued gun looks like a dark blob.

Anywho, something you may wish to check into. With Picasa, it only took a few minutes to do once you got the hang of it.

Weekend build.......

Came home Friday nite after work and ground out a new knife blank, then polished, heat treated, tempered and installed a scale set Saturday and today it was shaping the scales, polishing and sharpening the blade.

11.25" of 3/16 1095 HC steel, 5 5/8" blade with Sonora Ironwood and nickel silver pins. Tried something different with the plunge angle, grind height and added a lanyard hole thru the scales/tang. Lanyard hole didn't turn out quite as I planned, serviceable but not great, wanted to do cut out in the rear of the scales to expose the lanyard hole in the tang but couldn't make up my mind on final layout so I did a total thru hole, scales are a little thin back there. Added to the fact I did a thick scale tapered thin in the front to thick in the rear left me with limited options for final layout.

And the picture sucks.....one of the things I wanted to do Saturday while the blade was in the oven tempering was work on a light box for taking pictures. I guess a while back I had already did that. Had modified my original design to a more tall square setup. Screwed it together and worked with different lighting for a while, still couldn't get it right, took it apart and put it away. It is really hard to get enough light to show the scale details without the polished parts of the blade looking like I am shining 500,00 lumens on it. When I tone down the lighting the scales wash out in darkness : ( something to work on.
