Used to have a girlfriend who carried a Model 39. Back then I wouldn't dream of carrying a 9mm. Now I sure wish I had that one, the pistol not the girl, though they were both sweet at the time.

I switched the trade from the Model 66 to the model 39-2 (plus some cash) a couple of days ago. Polished the slide with some Flitz and elbow grease. Located some faux pearl grips for it, too.

Look forward to shooting it Saturday morning.

Years ago I had a conversation with John Linebaugh at his shop in Maryville before he moved back to Cody.

The topic was what kind of pistol should I get for my wife.

His response was "how much do you love her?"

I could only answer "a lot".

She had kept it close for over 25 years.

Had three, a '56 and a '65, , still have the 1971 issue gun which has never spent a day unloaded since then. MMC sights and all !!
Also have the 3904 and the 3906 version as well as their premier carry pistol, the 3913. As a matter of fact I wrote the FIRST artticle on the 3913 in a slickpaper gunmag. And the sumbiscuit will SHOOT !!!
And so it goes...

and like you said you have other .38 variants. My question is...which one gives you the most heartburn to leave behind? There's your answer. For me, I would get the 39 for the reasons you mentioned.

Folks,

Saw this after I had pretty much made a deal for the much-discussed Model 66. Va-va-voom! Minty.

So now I am thinking of adding some cash and trying to get it instead of the revolver. I have a bunch of .38s, but only one 9mm.

Thoughts? I know you have them.
