something with the magazines to make them feed shorts. I don't really care if they cycle. I can just run them by hand but if I had a mag that would feed more than one at a time, carefully placed just right in the front of the feed lips, it would speed up the process. A suppressor and a threaded 10/22 is high on the "to get" list:)

Sorta kinda (reply)

Jimmy P. And I both tinkered on getting a 10/22 to run with shorts, longs, and CCI shot.

Basically, it wont work due to the weight of the stock bolt. The Volquartson kit had an aluminum bolt IIRC. Jimmy and I both skeletonized a bolt to reduce weight and got it close; but when you reduce the spring to get it to cycle.... it doesnt have enough giddyup to strip the next round from the mag.

After I got my 07/02, I dropped that project and put a can on a SBR'd 10/22. Now that's niiiice...

10/22 Question for John K.

A good while back, I'm pretty sure I remember you doing a 22 short conversion on a 10/22...maybe a kit for the magazines to help them feed and such. If this is correct, can you elaborate. I have just such a project I'd like to attempt. If bolt springs are involved I'll probably leave them alone so I can shoot both. I don't really mind if it doesn't cycle the shorts automatically as long as I can do it manually. Then again, I have quite a few 10/22s so it may not hurt to fully convert it.
