Interesting platform (reply)

I remember when there was that shop that converted Security Sizes to 5 shot 44 Special.
Seems we have it made in this day and age.
As to comparing the different "compact/lighter" big bore revolvers,
I agree with your assessment about which one to choose.
I have the S&W 329PD, and it seems to hold the best hand in that card game.

that is what i was thinking too; years ago, i bought a 624 (reply)

smith and then a 24 smith; didn't keep them because the weight and bulk were so close to the 629 and 29, that there seemed no point to it. for my use a 44 special should be more the K frame or L frame size to offer a significant advantage. and i have and carry the 329 more than any other 44 here in alaska.

how does the GP in 44 compare to S&W 69 in weight and size I (reply)

The new Ruger is supposed to weigh around 36 oz., the S&W 69 is 37.4 oz. with a 4.25" bbl., S&W is also cataloging a 629 Deluxe with a 3" bbl. that weighs 39.6 oz., which is pretty close to what the Mountain Guns weighed. The lightweight champ is the S&W 329PD at 25.2 oz. with a 4.125" bbl.

I am a relatively small guy, only 5'6" tall and have no trouble concealing a 629 Mountain Gun, so see no need to pick up another small 44, or add 44 special to the brass pile. There are plenty of options with the 44 mag, from plinking, to personal defense, to hunting.

stocking up on an item before they release it... We were just standing up shooting at Gunsite humanoid silhouettes it was easy shooting and I got several 4-5 inch groups, easily both SA and DA. I shot far more double action with it.I The grip is superior on the GP compared to the the Redhawk. That was a bit painful with hot 180 and 158 .357s...
