I'm a couple years behind you, and have already outlived my dad by almost a year. Still haven't gotten close to either of my grandfathers, but am closing in on one of my cousins who passed away at around 52-3, IIRC. Indeed, each day's a gift from God, we should use them well.

Happy birthday (one day late) to you, And your right about living every day as a gift from God. lost my dad at 60 , I was only 14 when he died. I just turned 62 and retired on the 20th . The first man in my family to do so.

Just a note about my birthday yesterday.
Males in my family have a very short blood line .My dad was buried on his 48 TH birthday and he out lived his dad and almost outlived his grandfather at 48. My dads sister had 4 boys my cousins and I have buried them all as well as my aunt and uncle. Yesterday at 53 years old I was the first person ever in my blood line to put that # up. I am not done and modern medicine might be the reason. But I'm just letting everyone know I don't take a single day for granted and I suggest that you think in the same manner.
