I had no idea the .41 Redhawk was rare. I'm not a collector (although I do have a tendency to accumulate things that interest me, just without a plan or a program).

I bought it because I wanted something to use the .41 mag ammo I had after I sold my .41 mag Bisley 7-1/2 inch. It was in a local gun shop and priced like every other used Redhawk in there.

Sometimes even a blind pig finds an acorn.

I hate to admit this, but the only shooting magazines I subscribe to are "Rifle", "Handloader" and "Doublegun Journal". I'm mostly a shotgunner these days, but this piqued my interest because I have never owned a .45 Colt revolver and I liked the dual cartridge alternative and the 4 inch barrel. I own one other Redhawk, a 5 inch blued model in .41 Magnum, so I'm generally familiar with the platform, just not with this variation.

If it has accuracy issues with .45 ACP, I'm not interested. So thanks for the insights and you've saved me spending a bunch of money to be disappointed.

.45 ACP LOADS SHOOT WELL AT 7 YARDS; MOVE OUT TO 20 YARDS AND THEY OPEN CONSIDERABLY.

wife has one. She fell in love with it, and hs is a auto loader fan... It is set up for 45 Colt or ACP with moon clips... I had the same operation done to a 45 Colt Mountain Gun a few years ago... very satisfactory.
That is a fair price.

Ruger Redhawk .45 Colt/.45ACP Pricing/Questions

My local gun shop has a used Ruger Redhawk stainless 4" in .45 Colt/.45ACP. Looking at it carefully yesterday, it appeared to be set up to use moon clips for the .45 ACP cartridges.

I'm interested. The gun is in essentially new condition and has a very nice set of grips - nicer than I've ever seen on a Ruger, but with the Ruger eagle inset into them.

Asking price is $699. Is this a fair price?

Are there any issues with the dual cartridge chambering, such as headspacing or other function problems?
