I like the Williams target peeps... (reply)

have them on the 45/70 Cowboy and 38/55 Cowboy Marlins. They really work great for casual target shooting out to 800 yds. At 200 yds they deadnuts. I doubt I'd hunt with these unless I was sitting or in a tree stand.

I don't think any of them provide perfect aesthetics (reply)

I have used the Williams models, mostly because they are cheap and readily available. None of them really look quite right to me, but they look reasonable because they work well and proper function can define its own aesthetic.

What is the perfect peep sight for a Marlin lever action.... (reply)

warning agenst the leaf front. In low light and a fast shot it is VERY possiable to see a leaf and use IT as the front sight . this just doesn't work well in the feild. I love the LYMAN or Redfield with a Ghost ring and BRASS circle and a Fiber optic front. NOTHING BETTER but the Fiber optic front can be fragial.
I have an older skinner on my marlin... Not the "Best" but (reply)

a LOT better than the factory folding leaf. I do prefer a ghost ring for most close up and a smaller peep for out past 50 yards. I never had the peep in while living in AK.
A Lyman peep with the hard to find adjustable diameter peep would be my idea of a best sight.

I have this Ashley peep on my .45/70 Cowboy...it works "perfectly" but leaves a bit to be desired in esthetics....

I am going to go through this rifle and bring it up to "perfect" whatever that means....

Ideas please....tang...Lyman...Wildwest...or stick with what I have....

Thanks in advance....
