I am with Rob on this one.... (reply)

I have had these Colt hammer shrouds on both a Cobra and an Agent. It requires D&T three holes in the pistol. With a little technique, hammers don't hang up. I carry both a 2" Chief Special and 3" Detective Special in pocket holsters and don't have a problem.

Soft-ware rather than hardware solution (reply)

That's exactly what Mas Ayoob told me at LFI back in the late '80s.

Thing is, I like the look of the hammer shroud.

Hammer Shroud for Colt Detective Special

Anybody know where I can get one of these? Cylinder & Slide I know about and those guys are pricy. Any other places?

Also, the Colt DS is a Second issue (1951) but still has the shorter ejector rod. Can that be replaced for the longer one?

Pretty decent shape overall -- it's as old as I am -- and I do have a Tyler T-grip adapter on it to prevent from stringing my shots. Tried it Saturday and it worked nicely with three different kinds of ammo, including the Hornady Critical Defense Lite load. (Shoots little low.) Babs loves the box it comes in -- she has Stage IV breast cancer, metasized to her bones, lungs and liver -- and the fact that a portion of its sales go to breast cancer research.
