I have Pedersoli 1874 Sharps replica in 45-70 (45-2.10). I installed Shaver Soule sights on it. It shoots great and is comfortable. I wanted a C. Sharps but due to cost, I went with the Pedersoli. I am happy with it. Truth be told, I just don't shoot it anymore. I considered selling it. It's a fun gun. Don't ignore the Pedersoli version.

I have always been fascinated by Sharps rifles, yours was a real looker! A friend has an original 50/70 cavalry carbine and it is a tremendous amount of fun to shoot, even if the trigger pull feels like it must be 100 lbs. Maybe someday I will have the money to acquire one of my own, but there is so much that needs my attention first.

I was thinking of getting a Shiloh 1874 carbine in 45-70, but they don't make them anymore. If I want a carbine I guess it will have to be an Eye-talian made one.

I have an 'Italian before they were good' copy of the 54 caliber paper cartridge Sharps. Decent looking on the outside, rough as a cobb on the inside. It still goes KA-BOOM! when you light it off. Haven't played with it for a couple of years but I think it'll go piggie chasing one of these years.

the 50 Alaskan was 460's at 1900 out of the 20" barrel and weighed a lot less! Just think happy thoughts.

Something like a 300 or 350 grain bullet at 1100 to 1200 fps. It should be fun with that type of load.... A 540 grain bullet at 1300 fps, not so much.....
