Talked to Mike this morning. He said nothing about the powder should cause this and suggested I check the other metal cans I have on the shelf, there may be some off-gassing from them. Well, the old metal cans were all fine but three of the newer (2006 & 2007) plastic jars with metal lids (all unopened) had the same rust on the lids. In all these years, never had that happen. Guess I'll use the rest of the Trail Boss and not worry about it.

I have only seen this in old powder Trail Boss is not old enough to have this . Call them and they will replace it. Have a lot # for them.

I went to open my jar of Trail Boss for the first time in a year and found the lid very rusty and lots of rust residue on the top of the jar below the lid. The powder smells OK but I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. Lots of other metal cans on the shelf for many years with it have no rust...unusual. Is there something unusual about this powder that promotes rust?
