as he calls his Baby Rock.

We compared them side by side and the Baby Rock is like a Commander version. Dimensions are similar except for the barrel length. It seems like a solid pistol and he likes it so far but hasn't shot it a lot.

And, you remind me of one other 'complaint' on the Browning: the entry fee is pretty steep. Still and all, it's bought and paid for and I don't really mind. However, had the Rock Island been available last spring, it might have been the winner.

Browning 1911-380 (reply)

This morning I learned about Armscor's BBR, Baby Rock 380, reduced scale 1911. About the same size as Browning and all steel, for $200 less. I'll see how available that is. I like 380's.

I have only seen one but was impressed by the (reply)

impression it gives of quality. We sold it before I broke down and bought it myself. We need to get another.

That said, I have one of the 1911-22s. I was a fairly early adopter and let's face facts, it took quite a while for "extra" magazines to make it to market. Browning sold them for $41 MSRP but you can get them for less wholesale and they are pretty much available now. I soon got 6+ and love the little pistol. I do wish that the .380 had a metal frame like the .22 but you don't get everything you want.

We have had one here at Casa Hoot since, umm, last April? (reply)

Right in there anyway. It is a neat little 1911. Your brain and your hand both know what it is but there's the little niggling voice that says something isn't quite right. By that I don't mean, not right in the function or performance, but not right in that it's noticeably smaller. Still and all, the hand and the mind know what you're holding. And that is a very good thing.

Not a bobble, FTFeed, FTFire or FTEject with anything we've tried so far. Black on black sights, which is not an issue for me but Melodie would like to see something more 'contrasty'.

We upgraded the grips to some pleasant rosewood checkered numbers and it's now very pleasing to the eye as well.

My only complaint is magazines are unobtainium (and they only ship with one). We were promised 'soon', followed by 'soon', followed by 'January' but, as of yet, they haven't materialized. I don't know what the hang-up might be but it's starting to grate a bit. It's a !@#$% 1911 magazine for goodness sake, not some free range neutron infusion device.

Sorry I don't have any data beyond 'We like it and everybody who's shot it likes it' but that's our current bottom line.

If you have specific questions, I will try and oblige---just holler.
