We've had the two and 3 inch versions of the SP101. I found the short version much nicer to carry just as accurate and it still gave 1300+ with federal 125 grain magnums. They are solid little buggers that's for sure. In my world with three or 4 inch models are holster guns.

There is a 4" version of the SP101 available with adjustable sights and a half lug barrel. Very nice gun.

There is also a 3" fixed sight version with full lug, handy size if a bit nose heavy.

Your best bet on either one is probably an online purchase. Best prices from high volume dealers.

that with a little dehorning of the trigger guard and hammer spur, the basic SP101 grip is far more hand-friendly, especially to females. We had a 2 1/4" 357 around here for awhile and the biggest problem I had with it was Peggi depleting my reserves of 125 grain Federal .357 ammo.

You can also get a night sight specifically for the SP101

Prices at our shop are usually between 375 and 425. Part of that is condition, part is what will the market bear. If that range is acceptable to you, I will start looking for a clean one at the low end. We ship Priority, so that isn't expensive.

Not sure what they are going for these days.

My mother has shown an interest in learning to shoot. I'm thinking either a Security Six or an SP101 with .38 Special loads would be a good fit.

Thank you
