I have another B92 in 357. Never have taken pics of it, I will someday after I refinish the wood. That glossy finish that Browning put on these guns didn't hold up too well.

I like the stainless guns, they sorta give the appearance of guns that spent decades in a saddle scabbard. Those B92's are beautiful carbines and that one of yours is particularly nice.

My Browning 92s do not, and I'm sure it's a big part of the reason I don't shoot them very well.

I'm glad I'm not the only one ... (reply)

For me that's the whole thing in a nutshell. At my core I am a pistol shooter and my brain is geared for a flattopped site picture. Fortunately my vision is still good enough that I can hit well to about hundred yards and with prescription glasses, any distance I can see the target. This is a fairly recent revelation, confirmed by 200-300 yard shooting with various lever actions equipped with those types of sights.

I am told the Rossi's dovetails have changed some over the years, ranging between .385 and .400 inch. These dovetail seem to be substantially deeper than your typical US dovetail, which complicates matters a bit. Marbles has reportedly offered sites just for this dovetail, but I find that often do not bottom out and so have given up on them. I think it more efficient to take something that fits and go hammer and tongs on it until it becomes what I want.

I want to thank each of you that replied to this thread made offers of sending a sight. I don't need but one, though I wouldn't mind having a spare. I feel obligated to post this picture just so you know it's not going on an ugly rifle ;)

Who prefers Patridge style sights on a lever gun. 99% of my iron sigh shooting is done with a revolver, and I have never been able to adapt to the semi buckhorn and bead type of sights on most lever guns.

Sarge, I have an older one (reply)

I replaced the rear with an XS rear sight for a 94 Winchester when I had my Rossi threaded for my 9mm can. It's an older sight, already flat top and the sight blade is riveted to the dovetailed piece. If it'll work for you, you are welcome to it.

Shoot me an email at Slow_hand AT Hotmail.com. I can send you a pic to make sure it'll work. If I remember right, the older Rossi's had an oddball dovetail size.

Nothing wrong with those.... (reply)

I have just been shooting flat-top barrel-mounted rear sights since I was about five and despite the passing years, they still work for me. I like the easy-quick elevation adjustment of a conventional elevator, especially with a punkin' roller like the 45 Colt. I usually file the bottom step on for 100 yards, the second one for 200 and the third for 300.

As I age, I find comfort in things proven over time.

Looking for a Rossi 92 factory sight

I put a Marbles No 95 rear on 45 Puma, waaay back, but it's not an ideal sight. Its only elevation adjustment is that little sliding insert and its always shown some light under the dovetail- and I don't like that.

On my 357, I just removed the OEM sight, flat-topped it on a belt sander and re-installed it after clean-up and cold blue. Worked out perfect and was close approximation of the sights I use on Winchester 94's etc.

Anyhow... what I'm looking for is the OEM one-piece factory sight that comes on 92's these days. Pic below. I know some of you have these carbines and may well have replaced them with something else. If any of you have one let me know what you want for it.

invssgt@gmail.com

Thanks!
