I guess that put the triple whammy on any plans to get one here in the land of the former free.

I haven't seen one since the 60s.

Like Rob said, Colombia, S.A..

Here's a link to the current version. They've upped it to 110 cc instead of 90 and citified it into a lady's commuter bike.

The same basic frame and engine is still being made down here, albeit with a good bit of fairing and larger displacement. They are a very dependable little bike indeed.

Where is down here? A friend and I (both post Medicare) are discussing them this week.

Are they still made by Honda?

If not... do you have a brand name?

Thanks in advance.

The Quinn Brothers (reply)

Grew up starting with a step through Honda 50 with dreams of "upgrading" to the Trail 90 with the dual range transmission. Put the big sprocket on the back and it would climb a set of stairs up to the attic. It has been over 40 years so I guess you could ask how I know that! Later went to the "cooler" SL 90 then Scrambler type CL 175. From that stage on it was bigger road bikes starting with the 750F Super Sport then on to the Kawasaki GPz750 and finally ZRX1200r for the last bike. Almost 60 and still not many things more exciting than redlining a bike and when that means way north of 100 mph I finally decided discretion is the better part of valor and moved back to riding horses and mules while I was still alive. See these kids on sport bikes with no shirt, shorts and flip flops and just cringe. Apparently they think road rash is something the OTHER guy gets and not them.

I wonder if Honda still makes a version of the Trail 90?

Served an old woods rat well back then.

I had no idea... (reply)

that those were clear up north. They were fairly common down south of the equator. The CB series didn't come in big here between the Equator and Canal until fairly recently. And the current generation looks little like that one. Either it's been in storage a while or someone did a nice job of restoring it. That front tire is so new it's still got the "hair" on it.

We all know Jeff loves riding the big bikes which rumble. Exposing a little known secret on a recent trip to Tennessee I had rare opportunity to photograph the ride of Jeff's brother Boge. The picture drips of brute power.
