Not a requirement, but this 60 year old has a 6 year old daughter and an almost 9 year old son. A wreck would undoubtedly be catastrophic, the belt would serve merely to keep the children from jumping around whilst traveling.

.........which is a Chinese copy of a Ural, itself a Russian copy of an early BMW. The cars and frames are pretty good quality, the bikes (Chinese version) not very good at all.

Urals have an ok reputation, but require a tremendous amount of both continual and preventive maintenance, even upgrades in some cases. There are, surprise, quite a few forums catering to both sidecars, and Urals in general. A few are rabid kool-aid drinker sites, so be careful about what you say in regards to Soviet sidecars!

The door I get, it will better confine groceries and protect the passenger from road debris.

I'm going to hook this up to a Triumph America. I bought the sidecar only for less than the cost of a new Smith & Wesson 629! It is cherry, but I will be doing some reconfiguring down the road. Change lights to LED, and add some additional lights. Going to install a seat belt and door too.
