44-40 Factory Black Powder Rounds

Yesterday, I was given 80 old 44-40 factory loads and today I decided to see what was in them. Here is what I found.

1. W.R.A. - 44 WCF
195 grain .426 RNFP bullet
40 grains of black powder

2. U.MC. - 44 CFW
194 grain .424 RNFP bullet
35 grains of black powder

The bullets appeared to be identical having a bevel base and two wide shallow round lube grooves. The Winchester lube was still tacky, but the UMC lube had dried to a white hard cake.

Anyway, I though this was interesting and thought a few of you might thinks so as well and add this to your database.
