But, it's been a while so no longer recall what powder, etc. I'll dig through the notes and see. I 'spect H110 would be too slow. I *think* I recall that 'net sources show AA7/9 but I've never played with those. I'll report back if I find anything.

Fun round to shoot. A true, ahem, 'WTF gun' at an indoor range. Much like the .30 Carbine or .32-20 out of a Blackhawk.

7.62 Tokarev loads anyone? (reply)

I have thought for some time now that a CZ52 with adjustable sights to take advantage of the flat trajectory and range would make a dandy tractor gun. Never got around to trying the concept back when they were cheap.

I have always wanted one of those pistols.

I don't have a real need for one, but it just seems to be the perfect thing to have.

With the higher velocities it would especially be great if I lived in the west where there is some open spaces.

To me shooting a handgun get to be fun once the plinking range starts exceeding 100 yards or so.

It is amazing what the brain can do once one shoots a few hundred rounds for calibration purposes.A 6" Model 66 or DW 715 in 32-20 could be something that would gain my attention also.

7.62 Tokarev loads anyone?

The last several years I have been enamored with 32 caliber handguns. It started with a H&R 732 then a Nagant then a worn out Police Positive in 32-20. So I dusted off the CZ 52 I've had since the 1990's. Got a wild hair to master this thing. It is sort of like a psuedo 32 magnum automatic. I replaced the firing pin that I broke back in the day with a machined Harrington products number. This reduced the trigger pull immensely but took away the firing pin locking system.

Now I finally found brass and bullets at Grafs and Hornady 30 Mauser 86 grain soft point bullets. I perused the loading data on the net and decided on 13 grains of H-110. High velocity and around a two inch and a half inch group printed low at 25 yards. Some of the shots would be very close to each other and the others would be what I call fliers.

Chronographed the load and it went from the high 1300s to the low 1500s with a spread of 135 fps. So that is probably my fliers.

I believe that H-110 is too slow for the 86 grain bullets so I'll be trying AA-7, Unique, Power pistol, etc. I would like to have a 1350 to 1400 fps load with low deviation and spread. I have a Lee Factory crimp die on the way and some Hornady 90 grain XTP bullets also.

When you take the CZ 52 to the range don't forget a sheet to spread out about 30 feet the right and ten feet behind you to catch the brass. Yesterday my brass recovery was 40 % without a sheet LOL

Any of you Six gunners ever mess with this round?

Bob
