At FT Hunter-Liggett we used bulk purchase nuts (not the bolts) in wrist-rockets to deal with the ground squirrel population. Not exactly permitted but you don't want the little boogers in your hooch.

It works. Although it's easy enough to make good hits (reply)

using either approach, he builds a sighting notch into the sides of his designs - essentially like an old M&P rear or hog wallow - which adds to the repeatability factor. Also, bands can be mounted either way on his, for "through" or "over" shooting. Really versatile.

Then on top of that, there are all manner of hand and finger positions, draw technique, etc... lots of fun, especially smacking stuff HARD with a big projectile.

Mine is now part of my overnight/outdoors kit, for several reasons.

There is no doubt that if I would spend some time I could learn to hit things with my old wrist rocket.

It is old enough that I am on my 3rd set of bands though it sits more time than it is being shot

got pretty good. His favorite projectile is a 5/16" hex nut. He says the 1/4" is too light and the 3/8" too heavy. The hardware store sells 'em by the pound...no need for Grade 8 or stainless or anything fancy.

Lots of trains come by here and there's taconite pellets waiting to be picked up by the tons likely. They are a bit irregular but I expect they'd work fairly well.

We have a pair of his - a polymer Ranger and a G10 Sniper - I prefer the Sniper design.

Watch his videos. Once you get past the production quality, they're pretty informative. We were able to hit 30 foot shots within a few minutes by following his MOA.

Now we keep our eyes peeled for spherical marbles when we're out and about. You will, too.
