.......the wedges were the clue that he knew his stuff, but man, that was an awfully tight target area.

I was just waiting for the disaster. It wasn't until he picked up the second wedge and tapped it in that I realized he knew exactly what he was doing and was gonna drop that tree exactly where he wanted it. Nice work.

One has to be almost or just as in the woods... (reply)

Don't hang it up in another tree don't drop it on the skidder or on Charlie over their not in the creek or over a canyon edge. The guy did great, cause he has evidently done it LOTS.

.....I watched an experienced fellow drop 14 trees in a row (which took awhile). He told me where each one was going to go before hand, and sure enough, dropped each one exactly where he said it would go.

HOWEVER! The guy in that video had a whole lot that could have gone wrong! I admire his coolness under pressure. Notice that even he was relieved at the end.

Woods are easy - it is when there are things around (reply)

You'd rather not smash with a tree that is a problem. I have civil engineer brother - he should not be trusted with power tools. Compared to him I am an expert. Dropped a limb on his wife's clothesline full of clean clothes after I told him that was where the limb was going to fall and he assured me it wasn't. Also almost dropped a downed log he was sawing on directly onto his foot if nephew Stonewolf had not intervened.
