tang sight on it. Someone adjusted the thing with a pair of pliers and took some of the niceness off of it. It was complete and unmodified though and in nice condition. I'd already spent some money though so I decided to pass on it.

All sorts of adventures at deer camp in southern middle TN (reply)

It had rained all weekend and our gracious host felt obligated to walk the ridges in a sort of deer drive with Catoosa and me hunting off the back porch of the cabin. Mike did run out one doe in the back 40 and I felt obligated to shoot at it, not really realizing it was quite that long a shot at the time... Then we had to go see if by off chance I had hit it - and the torrential rain started.

Stonewolf got two deer with one shot a few years back...

It is accurate and in trained hands can rip off accurate rapid fire shots that would put a bolt action to shame. Downed a deer once not knowing my scope was off and ripped off fast follow up shots to finish the deer off. A guy back at the cabin told me it sounded like I had gone full auto. BTW I put two bullet holes in that doe that were almost touching.

I have one in 30'06 (reply)

It was given to me by my Grandad a few decades ago, it is an accurate rifle for sure. I thought maybe I could get one in 300 Savage since the Model 99 seem to command such a premium these days.

Bid on a Rem 760 in 300 Savage (reply)

Saw a few older guys hunting with them when I got out of high school and started hunting on my own. And thought they were cheap pieces of ____. But those guys were absolutely deadly with them. ( Driven game style Deer Club...Very popular in the South East) As I have gotten older and maybe a little wiser I developed a appreciation for the 760 and wanted to hunt with one at some point...As fate would have it I went thru a gun phase change and decided to find one. Bought a beat up 30-06 7600 last year. Had some trigger work at some point, but the darn old thing with throw 5 rounds into a quarter on a good day.
All the younger guys look at it and roll their eyes and we have a few high finance gun guys that come as guest a few times a year..I watched them kind of turning there noses up when they saw it until they saw the old Zeiss scope sitting on the top of gun. But so far it has accounted for four running coyotes and three running white tail ,one at a fair distant. Couple of the boys have asked since "what did you say the thing was again."
Sorry you missed out on the 300 savage. But a grand old design it has turned out to be.
