Yes, the star signifies it went back to S&W for work. Could have been a refinish (and usually was). Could have been a rebarrel or some other such work.

That's pretty cool! Shame to mess up a triple lock, but who knows how rough it was before. The star on the grip frame usually signifies a S&W refinish; doesn't it?

It ends on my birthday, maybe it should've a present to me... I've got a hollow based .454 mold that shoots well in oversized bores too!

Never seen a Triple Lock like this before. It is already past what I would pay, but it would be a neat, retro carry piece, especially being still in .455.
