Range report on the TR Special.
Thu Dec 30, 2004 20:23

When I first post photos of the TR special Tim Sundles offered to send me a couple of boxes of his Heavy 44 special ammo and I said I would not shoot the mod 21 until I received the ammo.

The Buffalo Bore ammo arrived just before Christmas and all range trips were on the back burner until after Santa mad his stops.

Made it to the range yesterday with the S&W mod 21 TR special and the Buffalo Bore ammo. A windy 20 degree day in the sunny south.

This TR special was fired unsupported double action on this target at a distance of 18 yards.. One cylinder of 185 gr JHP at 1150 F.P.S. and one cylinder 255 gr Keith at 1000 F.P.S. The upper left hand group was 185 gr JHP fired with forearms supported single action.

This next target was 255 gr Keith fired with forearms supported, single action at a distance of 18 yards.

Tom:

OK, so you showed us the pics, but that's only a start. How'd you like the grips? How'd you like the trigger? How'd you like the sights? You happy with it? You gots leather for it? Why no jug in the picture?

Oh, and one more thing: When all you gonna get a set of Barami hip grips for it? (In pink, of course.)

Kid here are the answers to your questions

Kid I like the grips they are more comfortable than the handles of a double shovel.
How did I like the trigger. Double action was smooth, had a little build up on staging but broke crisp.

Shot a little low at eighteen yards but I tend to read a fine sight.
Yes I am happy with the TR special. Still trying to get the “under anch” scratched off the TR.
No real leather yet.
Why not jugs? I don’t drink and shoot.

No pink grips for this guy. He is macho when supported with Tim’s Buffalo Bore .44 + ammo.
